With ESplan/CNC in relation to the path control and drive engine unit MAX OS 6 or MAX OS 2,5 the user is in the position to re-build, upgrade or create existing manual mill, drill, engrave and cut systems to a CNC or a robotic system.

ESplan can convert drawn geometry without further additional programs into motor driving actions.

The standard system is appropriate for three engines and can optionally be extended with up to 5 driving engines. The software has a complete milling program. By using parameters the system can be adapted to almost any drive size (4 axes can operate interpolated).

This solution can be integrated interactively as a development tool into SPS controlled production processes. As an embedded tool ESP offers costume developments as well.

At this time the standard system is divided in two performance classes and equipped with bipolar steppers.

EFM 45 COMPACT is an CNC drilling-/ milling system for the automated processing of large- and flat-surface materials such as steel, aluminium, brass, plastic and wood.

Area of operation for the milling machine is the construction of cabinets and devices, trade fair constructions, model-making and the work with plastic, sheet-metal and wood.

Driving range:

X: 980 mm, in two phases up to 2200 mm,

Y: 980 mm

Z: 70 mm

EFM 45 COMPACT allows the following processes:

Milling, drilling, cutting, tapping, lowering and engraving. Material thickness up to 50 mm can be handled.
If requested the system is delivered fully operational – including a PC and Windows operating system.
Just draw, parametrize, fix the material and and the automated working process starts immediately, without any CNC programming knowledge.

How you start with this CNC system

In a simple way the CAD construction-drawings are loaded either with DWG/ DXF or created by the ESplan CAD system. They are the basis for the CNC-Module. After creating the milling-contours and the drilling parameters are determined in the drawings, without any detours the CNC-Module is started directly from the CAD system. Basically all vectorized elements and texts of the CAD system can be used for the milling process. For the cabinet-constructor the relevant symbols (with drilling parameters) are loaded out of the symbol-files and e.g. positioned with easy actions on the mounting platform. Now we are already done and the required drilling-data for the CNC output is available!

The ESP CNC-Module now automatically converts the corresponding geometrics-data of the drawing into CNC drive-actions. The same tool-operations are assigned to drive actions and are colour dedicated and layer administrated .

The integrated and proven tool- and material-administration now chooses the fitting program (with correct parameters) for the drive speed according to the used tool and material.

All parameters and the line-control areas can be adjusted in any possible way so that the drilling process is optimized for speed and finish.

Instead of printing the drawing on a printer the CNC starts. EFM 45 COMPACT now executes all drilling- and milling-processes for you. The position of the milling machine is shown in real-time.

If a tool change has to be done, the drilling machine drives to the tool-changing-point and prompts the user and displays the information about what tool and size is needed. After that the job is continued. Automatically or manually coolant and chip-exhaust can be turned on. (Option: coolant-pump, chip-exhaust)

In case of power failure the machine can be calibrated to zero position by using the software reference-drive function.

Tool change semi-or fully automated?

EFM 45 COMPACT at this time does not support a fully automated tool change. It is in preparation and will be optionally available soon.

With a neatly choice of the tool it is possible to minimize the manual tool change afford. So that e.g. the drill-, mill-, and cutting actions can be done with one tool only. And that lets the machine finish the job with no further attention of the designer.

EFM 45 COMPACT is prepared for 3D milling operations. The ESplan standard software support 2.5D drill- and mill operations but 3D will come soon.

At this point the Z-axis can be controlled precisely with the help of selectively programmable feed values and repetition loops so that very thick material can be cut in multiple operation runs or blind holes are drilled with precise depth. The real 3D material processing with a new developed 3D machining model as well as a 3D geometrics editor is planned and will be optionally available.

EFM 45 COMPACT can be driven manually via keyboard! The system can be stopped at any time and/or can be drive to the park- and tool change-position at any time.

The PC based software ESplan CAD/CNC is running with Windows XP and 2000. It runs in real-time between PC line-control-electrics and machine. All ESplan CAE versions can be upgraded with CNC module!

The engine control is a proven CNC real-time system which is running stable with Windows and its developed for the industrial use.
